To give a discount on one product in the cart, type a taka amount in that line's Line discount (৳) box. The discount comes off the whole line, not off each piece, and it can never be more than the line's total.

Before you begin

  • Anyone who can sell can give a discount; there is no separate discount permission and no maximum. The Owner, Admin and Staff roles all can.
  • If you have not sold on Tukri before, start with Make a sale at the till.

Discount one line

  1. On the Sell screen, put the products in the cart and set the quantities.
  2. Open the cart. On a computer it is always on the right, under Current sale. On a phone, tap the green Checkout bar at the bottom to open the Cart.
  3. On the line you want to discount, to the right of the quantity, there are three icons: a coin, a tag and a bin. Tap the middle one, the tag (Line discount (৳)).
  4. In the box that opens, type the discount in taka for the whole line. For 10 taka off three soaps together, type 10, not 30.
  5. The line total on the right drops by the discount at once, and so does the bill's total below. The cart on a phone: 20 typed in the line discount box of the Tea Leaf line, whose total drops from 240 to 220 taka Current sale on a computer: 20 taka off the Tea Leaf line, now 220 taka
  6. To take the discount off again, empty the box.
  7. Tap Take payment, take the payment and complete the sale.

What happens next

  • The discount is saved with the sale. Open the sale from Sales and the line shows Discount with the amount under it.
  • If the product is returned later, the refund is after the discount, so it matches what the customer really paid.
  • On a line that also has a special rate, the discount comes off that rate, and a discount on the whole bill comes after.

If something goes wrong

I typed more than the line costs. A line can never be discounted below zero; anything more simply makes the line 0 taka. Type the right amount.

I want a percent off. A line discount is in taka only. A percent discount is for the whole bill: Discount the whole bill.

The discount disappeared. Reloading the page or leaving the till empties the cart. To keep a cart while you serve someone else, tap Hold; a parked cart keeps its line discounts.

What the video says

Agreed a lower price with a customer? Or a little off the whole bill? Let's see how to give discounts in Tukri.

Put the products in the cart and tap Checkout on the green bar. Each line has three icons on the right: a coin, a tag and a bin.

To change the price itself, tap the coin icon. Type the new price for one unit, say, 140 for a dozen eggs. The new special rate shows in green, with the old price struck through. The product's real price doesn't change.

To take taka off one line, tap the tag icon. Type the discount for the whole line, such as 10 taka in all on three soaps.

To discount the whole bill, open Discount & charges below. Choose a flat taka amount or a percent, then type the number. The Discount line shows what came off, and the total goes down too.

Now tap Take payment and complete the sale. Discounts and special rates are saved with the sale. Whoever can sell can give a discount.
