What does a POS system actually do?
At its simplest, a POS turns each sale into a clean record: it adds up the items, applies discounts, takes payment and gives the customer a receipt. A good one then quietly updates your stock and your day's numbers behind the scenes.
- Add items by name, SKU or barcode and total the bill
- Apply per-line or whole-cart discounts
- Take cash, card, bank, mobile banking, or split across them
- Print or share a receipt and cut stock automatically
Why is a mobile POS better than a calculator and notebook?
A calculator and notebook are honestly fine for a very small shop with a handful of sales a day. The pain shows up as you grow: a notebook can't tell you your stock, your profit, or who still owes you money without hours of counting.
- No re-counting stock — it updates on every sale
- Knows your real লাভ after cost and discounts
- বাকির খাতা per customer with reminders, not loose pages
- Works offline and syncs when the internet returns
Is Tukri only a POS?
No — Tukri is a POS plus the rest of the shop's daily work in the same app, so you don't juggle a billing tool, a stock register and a due-book separately. Everything connects: a sale updates stock, a credit sale lands in the খাতা, and reports add it all up.
- POS billing with barcode scan, hold & resume, offline sync
- Live stock with low-stock alerts, batches & expiry
- বাকির খাতা, কিস্তি sales and sale returns
- Invoices (A4 + 80mm thermal), purchases and profit reports
Do I need a special machine to use a POS?
Not with Tukri — your existing Android phone is the POS, and you can scan barcodes with the phone camera or a cheap USB scanner. You only add hardware, like a thermal printer, when you actually want printed receipts.
- Runs on the phone you already own
- Camera or USB barcode scanning
- Optional 80mm thermal printer for receipts
- Works in both English and বাংলা
